Here we have the sought after ALL ANALOGUE Hughes & Kettner Tubeman Plus. In very good condition. All knobs work perfectly and all in excellent working order! Fitted with H&K tube. It's a guitar preamp but also suitable for guitar bass, keyboards and vocal. Comes with manual and UK compatible power supply.

Please note that this unit has the MIDI controller installed in which you can choose to change channels via MIDI CC. These sell separately for around £165, see here - http://www.jhs.co.uk/hkaccessories.html. So it really is a bargain at only £175 for the unit and MIDI module.

1. THE TUBEMAN PLUS’S THREE CHANNELS

The TUBEMAN PLUS’s preamp section is based an innovative new concept popularized in the original TUBEMAN. Each of the three channels drives the two tube stages differently, delivering unique sounds with markedly different characteristics.

CLEAN: The ECC 83 preamp tube provides classic clean sounds for tasty single note lines and discriminating chord work. Higher “CLEAN” knob settings evoke warm tube overdrive reminiscent of a vintage Fender@ amp, depending on your instrument’s volume knob setting and picking attack.

CRUNCH:  Blues sounds a la carte! This channel covers a broad spectrum from clean to tube overdrive. Its dynamic reserves ensure this channel responds to every nuance in your picking attack and allows you to precisely control the overdrive with your guitar’s volume pot. Higher gain settings evoke warm singing sustain, ideal for those expressive blues leads.

LEAD: Classic rock sounds with a distinct British slant - direct and dynamic. Switch to the LEAD 2 mode for even more bottom end, compression and sustain - it delivers the serious tone you might expect from customized tube amps, ideal for contemporary playing styles and power chord riffing.

2.0 CABLE CONNECTIONS AND CONTROL FEATURES

FRONT PANEL

INPUT: Input jack for guitar.

MID BOOST: Active mid range EQ boost switch.

CLEAN/CRUNCH GAIN: Controls input sensitivity for the CLEAN/CRUNCH channels. Slightly overdriven sounds can be achieved at settings around  6 - 8, depending on your pickups’ output level.

LEAD CAIN: Controls input sensitivity for the LEAD channel.

LEAD 2 SELECTOR SWITCH: Activates the LEAD channel’s LEAD 2 mode.

4 BAND MASTER VOICING: Common Bass, Mid, Treble and Presence controls for the CLEAN, CRUNCH, and LEAD channels. Active BASS and presence, passive MID and TREBLE controls. MID and TREBLE influence one another (which is both normal and desirable in tube amps). Increased treble settings decrease the midrange and vice versa. This feature offers a wide range of subtle tonal variations. The PRESENCE control influences the overtone spectrum at about 10 kHz, similar to a tube power amp’s presence control.

CLEAN MASTER: CLEAN channel’s volume control.

CLEAN/CRUNCH SELECTOR SWITCH: Activates the CLEAN or CRUNCH channels.

YELLOW CRUNCH LED: Illuminates to indicate the CRUNCH channel is active.

CRUNCH MASTER: CRUNCH channel’s volume control.

LEAD SELECTOR SWITCH: Switches from the CLEAN/CRUNCH section to the LEAD channel. The LEAD channel is active when the pushbutton is depressed.

RED LEAD LED: Illuminates to indicate the LEAD channel is active.

LEAD MASTER: LEAD channel’s volume control.

GREEN BYPASS LED: Illuminates when TUBEMAN PLUS is in BYPASS mode (can be switched by either Stageboard or MIDI).

MIDI LEARN: If the MSM1 MIDI Module has been installed, the MIDI LEARN button is used to save the current sound setting. The MSM 1, which is available as an option, takes just a few minutes to install, no soldering required. Consult your H&K dealer.

MAINS: Power ON/OFF switch

REAR PANEL

STAGEBOARD:  Input jack for stageboard (not included)

TO POWER AMP: Line output feed to a multi-effects processor or power amp with speaker cabinet. In the bypass mode, this output is muted.

TO GUITAR AMP /TO MIXER: Output feed to guitar amps or preamps (TO GUITAR AMP), or to mixer desks, multi-effects processors, or tape recorders (TO MIXER). In the bypass mode, this output supplies the original instrument signal.

OUTPUT SELECT:  Press this switch in if you want to use the active speaker simulation to connect directly to a mixer; leave this switch out if you’re connecting directly to a guitar amp (active matching filter).
